Mantra yoga

Mantra: The root ' meaning to “to think” and 'tra' from “trai' meaning 'to protect' or 'free' from the bondage of Samsara or the phenomenal world.” - Swami Shivananda

Devotional practice wasn’t always part of my life. It wasn’t until I broke my ankle in 2016 that I truly discovered its power. Unable to care for myself, I had to surrender to the care of others. During this time, I found solace in Taizé songs, which eventually led me to mantras. Their simplicity and depth allowed me to focus, heal, and connect. Each mantra became a part of me, dissolving my suffering and filling me with peace and awe.

I call our practice together Mantra Yoga, not kirtan, because I want to emphasize the practice and inner work. While kirtan in the US is often experienced as a sacred music concert, I focus on offering both japa (chanting) and singing together, to help you learn the mantras by heart so that you can take these mantras home and experience the same Divine spark. The more you practice, the more you stay united with the Divine in your heart, and know the way to return when falling into the small self. With deep reverence, I share the melodies the Divine Mother expresses through me, and it’s a joy to share them with you
